Swiss Post and Earth Class Mail recently announced a strategic partnership in which Switzerland’s esteemed national postal operator will license Earth Class Mail’s technology to introduce online postal mail to customers from around the world who seek addresses in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, and Austria. Like Earth Class Mail, Swiss Post will send customers email alerts notifying them of their newly scanned sealed envelopes. The alerts will appear much like this:

During the initial pilot phase, which is expected to launch in early 2009, Swiss Post will provide this service to corporations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, small businesses, and individual customers from all over the world who seek mail service or addresses in Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, and Austria.
